Project Description

This contract comprised the preparing of 81.5km of spread for a 450mm Gas pipe. Excavate/backfill and reinstate 81.5km of pipeline and other ancillary works. Technical difficulties associated with the project included the crossing of the river Boyne. Due to the environmental (Boyne Islands SAC, Boyne and Blackwater SAC) and cultural heritage designations ( Battle of the Boyne and the buffer zone of the UNESCO World Heritage Site at New grange) within the river corridor, a trenchless crossing of over 450m was employed using Horizontal Drilling Techniques to ensure that any impact on the River Boyne was avoided.
